Edit: The app seems to be operating fine for me now. Winzip devs, thank you for correcting the problem! My initial assessment was as follows: As far as password-protecting my data is concerned, this program is excellent. My password-protected files are now inaccessible after I upgraded my phone to Android 12. The program crashes whenever I try to open it (the Android OS displays an error message stating that the app has been crashing due to a fault), but I’ve found a fix.

I’ve been using this software on a variety of tablets and phones for years. Android 11 tablet running WinZip at the moment. Today, 5/28/22, it started crashing as soon as it was executed. Uninstalling and reinstalling a new copy twice didn’t help. Both times, it also crashed instantly. When it comes to file compression, WinZip used to be the gold standard. As it is, it’s a complete waste of space and memory. This software should be listed at the bottom of the list of compression apps. RAR is the archiver of choice for me.

Crash after crash! It’s a bummer that the most recent version no longer accurately displays huge text files! Only a few lines of text can be seen, or all of the text is squished together with no place for new lines to be added in between. The ‘Open In’ feature no longer works as it used to, and it’s completely useless. A new zip app would be nice…

I began using Winzip many years ago.It’s my opinion that it’s the best archiving tool out there. Zipping up a file is a mystery to many people. A file can be compressed to save space, or to distribute it through email or attachment, for example. I think it’s a fantastic tool.

Using this app has been a terrific experience for me when I first got it. But for the past three or four days, it’s been unable to restart. In order to use the app, I need to be able to read documents or download files. My professional activities have been negatively affected by this. Currently, I am unable to accomplish anything with this application. “This app keeps pausing” is what I keep getting when I try to open it. There is nothing I can do at this moment.

Fine. The sender had included a “?” in the password for a file I needed to unzip, but my file manager refused to accept it. Because of this, I had to switch apps and give this another shot. It did the job. There were a lot of ads and the aspect ratio kept changing, so it wasn’t ideal. I’m not going to set that as my default setting.
