it’s pleasant enough to begin started with learning the foundations of a language, but with the continual changes to their lesson plan format, it feels like you lose a lot of progress. Also, the manner you learn some words should be improved. I seemed like several times, duolingo would display you a new word, but not instantly give you its meaning. Paid the hefty membership rate ’cause I loathed the heart system. Now have LEAGUE FATIGUE. Leagues should be voluntary! Sucks to drop into lower leagues then have to grind to stay in the Promotion Zone. They also seldom rectify faults. Example: On some multiple choice questions, there are 3 alternative responses. Only 1 is accurate. HOWEVER, 2 of the answer selections are IDENTICAL. If you don’t guess the proper one, even if you’re accurate, it’s marked WRONG. I’ll try a new app rather than reubscribing. it’s fantastic to be able to get back to fundamentals. I appreciate how repetitious the courses are, whether it’s vocab, noun genders, sentence construction, and how they are addressed in different ways. This strategy greatly helps with retention. I also appreciate the challenges and games. It is a really nice relearning experience! It was pretty fantastic at first, but now, it takes a really long time to compute xp & proceed to next phase. I have to close & reload the app to get any progress. Also as I went in the stages, it started having multiple grammar issues in the supporting language (Arabic) which lead to giving improper tense or meaning. Nevertheless, I to say, the app truly helped me improve my French. I adore the new gadget! Thanks to it, I’ve continued my streak for more than 10 days for the first time. But the speaking exercises have always been defective, not picking up the things you’re saying (even when you’re pronouncing them correctly and loudly), which is incredibly aggravating. And with the latest update, sometimes it pushes you back multiple lessons claiming “we added new materials”. I think it should be voluntary to check out new content. It’s demotivating to be put back. I absolutely appreciate the Duolingo learning experience. However, I’m not totally pleased. First off, the audio component was eliminated. There is a Duolingo podcast, but it’s not as educational as the audio component of the software originally was. Secondly, the app teaches you by having you guess which for me personally is not an emotional learning approach. Overall overall, I find the app to be calming and amusing. One of my favorite things about the app is its free unless you want unlimited access to all features. Superb software for learning languages! The lessons are bite-sized and teach a lot. But, I have small troubles with this app. Firstly, if you made the XP boost such that when we quit the program it pauses, it’d be beneficial. If I quit the app and come back later I’d lose the XP bonus. Secondly, it repeats words and views them as fresh ones. Lastly, the program gets stuck in the loading screen and has to be relaunched to operate but in vain. This is simply a suggestion and if you could address the issues I’d rate this 5⭐ I like the software, but the streaks and leaderboards put undue stress on what might be a great learning experience. At first I was very into the leaderboards, but when I came in first in the top league nothing happened–I found out only those with iPhone could make it to the rounds where you receive special badges. I switched off the leaderboard after that (no choice on mobile, need to configure it on PC). After 100 days, the streak itself became a strain. I wasn’t having fun anymore. Recommended! The software is excellent! I despise the challenges since the timer is too short most aren’t able to accomplish without buying gems. I’m not super human. The objective of a challenge is to make you better. I find it really demotivating when I’m so near but never achieve and buying my way through the obstacle makes it worthless. They’re enjoyable and not hard. I’m sure some can finish them without gems but I don’t see the typical person getting them done without gems. Especially the typing ones. Really intuitive design and courses are well thought out, you may begin at a level you are comfortable with and you’re taught new words and phrases in stages, building on your knowledge as you go. There’s also exercises that target your mistakes so that you may learn where you went wrong. I thought I’d lost everything the French I’d acquired in my teens, but the course has quietly reintroduced and dragged the information back out. A good app to follow up on my lessons. I wish there were additional benefits to buy with the gems (personalised vocabulary list and slots, speaking patterns/ actual conversation practice, particular acquisition of more difficult words/sentences or specific grammar explanations outside of the blog). I’d also hope we could opt out of the competitive element of it. It can be thrilling at occasions, which might motivate over brief periods of time or to study before a given date but it truly stresses me out. I typically don’t review applications, but I LOVE Duolingo so far. The layout is intuitive and doesn’t overwhelm you with options; I like learning functions as I go. I enjoy the amount of information provided for free, plus the detail that goes into each word I learn. Highly suggest for a rookie since it plays like a game, therefore it’s hard to become frustrated when you feel like youre playing. Highly recommend.
