REVIEW :

Great integration, some drawbacks.

Being wired is a frustration.

Positioning the wire without it getting in the way can be annoying.

Also if it loses some of its connection to the cable it can be frustrating in transit.

I guess it could be a requirement as some people can’t put their phones down so this might help counter that.

Also some features are missing from Google maps that I believe should be available.

Spotify integration is definitely the biggest plus.

It’s been a little bit of a struggle, I do have that issue where sometimes my android auto connects and sometimes it doesn’t and I have to plug in/out many times to make it work.

But when it works, it’s pretty good.

I like that it gave the 15 second forward and backward option when listening to podcasts on Spotify.

I wish the app would open up on the whole screen in my car (2022 Subaru Legacy Limited), not just half the screen – it would make using google maps much easier to see.

Continues off from where you left off, even if used in a different vehicle.

No ads, music plays right away.

Love the map feature as well.

It takes a bit to figure out how it works, but once you learn how it all works, it’s a really neat feature to use, especially handsfree while driving.

It’s able to read text msgs out loud and allows you to respond, again, all handsfree.

Same with phone calls, they are able to be taken without having to mess around while driving.

When it works it works, but I had a lot of horrible experiences with it too.

I was planning to switch to Apple for much stable experience ,all of a sudden Android auto stopped working.

I tried with different cables, and these are original Samsung USB cables and nothing works.

Need to try and keep trying and all of a sudden it starts working again.

It’s working right now hopefully it stays this way

I’ve been using Android Auto in different type of cars and brands.

It’s always a pleasure to drive having google maps running and ready for the next destination.

Very occasionally I have a problem finding addresses.

I’ve been using Android Auto wireless and and my experience has been more than excellent.

I am looking for a Bluetooth device for my car to be able to use Android Auto wireless with no success so far.

I have been using this app for over 3 months without issues so far.

Convenient and easy to use.

EDIT: Sep.2022 –

The ability to make outgoing phone calls and text no longer works, and it no longer reads received texts out loud, but I can still receive incoming calls.

Music stopped working too.

I mostly use it for GPS, so these items no longer working are only an annoyance, not a “need”.

Dropping my review to 4 stars (really 3.5) because I do miss the texting ability.

After changing cars and using Android Auto with both I’m very pleased with the experience.

It gives you time to prepare to turn at a junction rather than say turn here as you’re going past.

I also like that it’s free.

The car navigation system cost a lot to update and the navigation system I bought did the same.

It’s a friendly interface.

Android Auto is overall a useful app.

There are some downsides.

It does slow down phone performance.

You can’t access maps from your phone, even if you are the passenger.

In my case, the phone has to be hard connected and connected by Bluetooth to work.

But you can access all your phone properties through your car’s touch screen.

Overall it’s a very functional app.

However for some reason it is difficult to locate in my applications list.

Even after confirming that it isn’t hidden, I am unable to modify the apps that it will display.

Inside the vehicle it functions as needed.

Now AA saying it’s connecting but for some reason the connection times out.

This app with upto date version will no longer connect to my brand new Honda.

Android Auto is the best way to use Android for navigation and music while driving.

Most o headaches are on the car manufacturer’s side (sometimes it starts automatically, sometimes I have to trigger it via a menu, etc) (sometimes it starts automatically, sometimes I have to trigger it via a menu, etc.)

The limited app selection (partially by design), has all the key apps, missing only a few whose developers haven’t bothered (like Wondrium) (like Wondrium).

No support for a car’s second screen for navigation and media, but that’s on the car manufacturer as well.

Android Auto is great.

I love the Gamesnacks especially — hope more games will be added soon.

However I do want to let the developers know that the bottom status bar on lower resolution screens (even the screens are wide) is way too big and no way to hide it (I am on a Chevy Bolt) (I am on a Chevy Bolt).
