It accomplishes its purpose.Â
After my phone was broken by a drop six months ago, I began looking for a replacement power button app.Â
I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and turn it on and off using the home button or the widget in this app.Â
Had no problems until now.Â
The only thing that comes to mind are the two or three instances in which the notifications button vanished and I had to reselect it in the settings (in a span of 6 months).Â
Nonetheless, thanks a lot!
3 years of use have passed without any issues, but last month my phone’s Android version was updated and my app’s screen-off option became partially inoperable.Â
I used to be able to lock and unlock my phone using this app, but after an Android phone update, I’m unable to do so. Instead, I’m forced to enter my phone’s pin every time I try to unlock my phone.
Mobile devices that use fingerprint or face recognition as an additional level of protection.Â
In addition, I use this app to dim the display.Â
To re-open the screen, I must type in the password, which means I’ve lost the previously configured alternate method ( finger or face ).Â
In the meantime, I close the phone’s screen by pressing the phone’s physical button.Â
Using either my face or my fingerprint, I will be able to reopen
But it takes a lot longer than I expected to turn off the display.Â
However, I had a similar app that took less than a second, so this took a few seconds.Â
It made me wonder why it took so long to download this app.Â
Was there any other purpose for it being there?Â
Also, it’s a pain to get rid of.Â
Before the app was completely removed, I had to deactivate it six times.
Previously, when I used this app to turn off my screen and then tried to open my phone with my finger print or face, I was able to do so successfully. However, when I use this app to turn off my screen and then try to open my phone with my finger or face, I am unable to do so successfully.
My Samsung Galaxy S4’s power button started malfunctioning intermittently in 2014.Â
I decided to give this app a try because I was facing a large repair bill.Â
To the point where I don’t even think about it, let alone give it a rating.Â
As of this writing, the phone hasn’t been fixed and continues to work perfectly!Â
When I get a new phone, I’m going to put this app on it right away.Â

UPDATE: My S4 finally died, which is a good sign that these guys are on the right track…Â
This is a feature of my brand-new phone, the Oppo Reno Z!
