Two stars because it actually runs. Everything else is very small. There are no handmade screen shapes. No artificial. There is no picture-in-picture. The screen shifts to the right; which may seem right to those with a notch, until you see that the cut from right is equal to the left gap. It is too small for any app settings, and there are no advanced settings at all. Netflix was better than in 2010. HBO can pay more than one person for app development. This is sad.
This application is dangerous to use and use. There is no obvious way to jump to the next episode immediately, you have to go find the show from scratch and select the next episode or view all the app credits to finally do it yourself. There is also no easy way to go to the show page while watching it, you have to search the show again to get there. Oh and the subtitle format is awesome, hard to read and comes off the whole screen instead of the middle floor as usual
Every time I stream to Chromecast, when I turn on my phone again to stop the show, the app displays my status as “offline”. It takes 10 seconds to reconnect. This is not a problem with other apps streaming on my device. If not, the UI is very clean. I wish there were more options for customizing how captions are presented (see Prime Video). Normal font is too large.
When I watch an episode of any series, I want to be able to watch the next one automatically when the first one ends. Additionally, once you start an episode in the “Keep Watch” section, it’s not easy to look at it to watch the next episode in the series whenever you need it. It is an expensive enough service and unfortunately, I think the app is not yet complete.
It is not usable, but there are many problems. When I return to the app (even just seconds away from it; I DON’T) I get a message “Offline”. The app rotates 180 degrees even if the rotation is disabled. Sometimes the Chromecast icon shows that I’m connected while I’m away as I can control the media. There are no media controls for Android 11 notifications (I have checked my notification settings many times). I am on the OnePlus 6 running Oxygen Beta 3.
The app is definitely improving, I would say you MUST create shortcuts, so people can control their play better. On a PC, the left and right arrow on the keyboard should move forward as fast as 15 seconds as a button at the bottom of the player. For mobile, double tap to fast forward to that part of the game. That is only necessary, you should also add a swipe up to control the volume or arrow up and down the PC. But that’s like the main thing my friends complain about with the HBO Max, it’s not easy.
The footnotes appear approximately in the center of the screen, and should be at least 10 cm wide. My amplifier gets Dolby Digital, 5,1 but only sounds on the front L / R speakers. Netflix has audio for all speakers on the same program. Otherwise it is good. There are no SD storage options when downloading. The app is still not working, and I have not received a refund or heard back from the customer support within three weeks, which I last heard from them, they accused me of not having my device supported even though I have a Samsung Galaxy. S20. I was unable to use your OWN subscription due to the fact that this application is cracked. If there is anything in the HBO Max you want to watch, I suggest you find it elsewhere or just buy a visual copy, as this is an excuse for the garbage application of the streaming app.
