I’m really enjoying this application to date, and prefer it over other options. The library is limited and the text isn’t as long, but I am sure there will be new content coming. Fantastic content and a great method of learning, however There are PERVASIVE UI issues that make the app unresponsive, slow and unusable. For instance it takes more than 10 minutes to translate just one word! This is a mere tap, two long taps, and then in waiting around for your app to translate the word. It’s a long time! When you’ve finished the story it will take you away from the story when the audio ends! And there’s no chance to return! There are other issues to consider – the death of 1,000 cuts
I love the idea. I really like using it, despite the criticisms. It urgently needs an “speed up” function. There is no speed up function. Japanese text is blatantly slow that I am not comfortable using it to read Japanese. Spanish is much more efficient, but certain texts are too slow and have long pauses between sentences. Other things several others have already discussed Flashcards’ functionality is basic. It is impossible to select words that haven’t been spelled in the same order or in a different order, and can also result in the translation is incorrect.
I was looking specifically for texts that had a higher vocabulary and their translation. I was delighted when I found the app. The texts and translations were perfect for me and I can easily upgrade them at any time. They are easily accessible and sufficient to gain a lot of information about it.
